Yay! I'm so excited about my first book review! :) I love many different kinds of books, but my favorite of all time is murder mysteries. I relish in a good whodunit.

Which brings me to the first.

The Quick and the Thread

I stumbled across this series at the Books-a-million where I live. I was captivated by the the cover which prompted me to crack the book open. Now I'm a person if the first page captures my attention I will mostly likely want to read it. And this is what this book did. It's a really cute cozy murder mystery centered around the main character Marcy Singer. I liked the book because the plot is well written, the characters are nicely developed. You really get a since of the people in Tallulah Falls. I like Marcy Singer. She definitely has a sense of humor.

A native of San Fransisco she is given the opportunity to open up an embroidery shop in Tallulah Falls, Oregon. Everything is going pretty well for Marcy until she finds the previous owner of a hardware shop dead in her storeroom. Now she must set out to find the culprit before it is too late.

Please go pick it up. It is a good read. I hope you like my post and I will be back later with a review on the second book Stitch Me Deadly.

Good Morning my follow lovelies! :)

So I'm totally on a mission with my hair. I love Kimmay from Kimmaytube's hair. It's such an inspration to me. So for the past 4 weeks I've been doing mostly protective styling. My goal is to get my hair bra strap length just to see if I can accomplish it. :) I'm excited because I've really stuck to my routine even though sometimes I just want to be lazy. I make myself do it because I know in the long run it will benefit me. Also my goal is not to just have long hair but to master my hair and really understand it. I will be back later to give you my routine. I'm still trying some things out. So when I have a routine that I'm comfortable with I will share it.

P.S. I know I haven't made a video in a while, but I've been having a lot of changes go on. They're good I promise :). Maybe I can get one up soon. I don't really know. My goal is to try to update this blog more. We will see. :)

What a Day I Had Yesterday! 02/05/2010

Hello Everybody!

I just thought I would tell you about my day. I am a substitute and for the past two days (Thursday and Friday) I was at a charter middle school. Let me tell you that is not easy. The kids are big and very disrespectful. It's really hard being a sub because he kids don't consider you a "real" teacher. They feel like they can say and do whatever they want because the sub has no control over them. To a certain extent that is true. As a sub you are only at the school for a certain amount of time and the children don't think that anything serious will happen to them. The longer I was there the more I realized that either A) I needed a new profession or B) only sub at elementary schools. I like the school hours just not what I have to go through with the kids. I was in the school system for a couple of years as a reading tutor, but I was in kindergarten and 3rd grade. So needless to say I am not used to the older kids. There is so much that goes on in the school system. I could write a whole book on dealing with children that come from not so great backgrounds! My goodness I couldn't wait until 2:50 came. I just prayed my way through and hoped I could maintain a certain level of control until the end of the day. I was definitely crazy.

I haven't done twists in a while. I thought that I would do some. They started out cute but now they are just frizzy. I just don't understand my hair does that. I put olive oil on my twists because I thought that was the problem but they still frizzed up after two days! IDK

The Happenings of My Hair

Hey guys!

How has it been going? With me okay. Just wanted to let you know what's been going on with my hair. It has grown a lot since I cut it in July of '09. I've been doing some different things with it trying to get a feel for my hair and see what it likes and what it doesn't like. It is has definitely gotten healthier and softer since I've been using more products. I really want to get into blogging more. I want to bring in a bigger audience so that they can read what I have to say. I have some ideas in my head on the different things I want to feature. One thing a I really want to get started again is Outfit of the Day. That was pretty cool! So I will be posting again soon and hopefully I can try to be more faithful with posting because I really like to do this but just trying to get my ideas on here is hard.

Failure!

Hey guys!

How is it going for everyone? I hope that all is well. I just wanted to come on really quick to tell about an experiment that I had with oatmeal. I was looking online to see the health benefits of oatmeal for the hair. I came across the conditioner of oatmeal and yogurt so I wanted to try it out. I cooked the oatmeal and as an extra precaution I pureed the oatmeal so that I wouldn't have chunks of it in my hair. I mixed in the yogurt and put the mixture on my hair. I put a shower cap and a towel so that it would create body heat. Well I let that sit for about 2 hours because I was doing other stuff. I got in the shower to get it out. OMG! I co-washed my hair and rinsed it well and it still hair residue! :( Let's just say that I was not happy about that. It left my hair soft but who wants to walk around with oatmeal in their hair. So then I shampooed and it got some of it out, but not all. Then I detangled and braided my hair. That got a little more out. I just won't do that again. I like the end result just the whole oatmeal residue thing really turned me off. So give it a try if you like and see how it works for you. Maybe you guys can come up with a better way to get all the oatmeal out of your hair and you can let me know about it.

Hey there everyone what’s been going on? So as the title suggest someone very close to me die. That would be my computer. I’ve had that stinking thing for almost three years and it got zapped in this really bad storm that we had Sunday. OMG I really need a computer for school work and other misc. so I immediately went out and bought me a new one. I had a lot of crap on the other, but hopefully I can retrieve it.

The new I got was a steal. I got it from Best Buy for $376! Isn’t that amazing and it’s a Toshiba. So I’m really happy with it so far. It was just a bummer having to put all my apps. on it. I like it because it’s smaller than my other computer and light weight. I’m not mad though because I got my money’s worth out of my HP. So yeah…. Maybe I will be able to get at least 3 years out of this one.

So how has everyone been doing? Me, I’m ok just busy with things that are going on in my life. Hit me back with what’s been going on with you guys. As far as my hair is concern I’m still going strong with my fro. I think what I need to do is get some new batteries for my camera. I actually hair my camera, but seeing that I just dropped a load on this computer I won’t be getting a new camera any time soon so I guess I will have to make due with the one I have now. :( Well I have to go and I hope that things are well with everyone. I appreciate everyone for reading my blog and checking out my Youtube videos. That really makes my day. My goodness, I'm already up to over 8 hundred subs. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

One more thing. I have a review on Cantu Shea Butter that I want to share with you guys so hopefully I can get the chance to post that soon.

I want to share with you this site I just came across. It's called Polyvore, an awesome site that lets you create outfits. What I love about the site is that it gives you a visual online of the things you like to buy and put together. I know for me that is a biggie because I am a visual person. I have next to no clothes and the clothes I do have are starting to get worn out. I just stop buying clothes because I would feel overwhelmed with the idea of having to buy a whole wardrobe! But now I realize that if I just buy one piece at a time it's much easier on my mind as well as my pocket. So here is an outfit that I put together. I like simple things nothing to complicated that is going to make me uncomfortable. I find that if I stock up on the basics and add a little flair it becomes cute without making me feel like I'm too dressy.

Wash N Go

Hello everyone!
Here is a picture of my hair in a wash n go yesterday (4/26/09). I find that as my hair gets longer the methods and moisturizers I used for my hair is not as effective as they used to be. If any one has some suggestions on what products I need to try please feel free to leave me a comment. It is becoming harder and harder to take care of my hair and I need to advice on what to do.

I bought some fingernail polish called China Glaze. It's made by O.P.I. I love the color, but I don't know the name of it right off. I will post the later. I heard that it was suppose to be a good polish. It's okay, but it's not what I thought it was going to be. The colors are very vibrant, but without a top coat it will chip very fast. Also I really couldn't tell from the difference between the formula of the China Glaze or something cheap. Bottom line, I really like the polish and I think I just need to give it some more time. Sorry I need to work on polishing too! lol :)

It just seems lately that I haven't been doing anything with my blogger or my YouTube account. I don't know. I think one of this reasons is I'm not getting enough responds from my blog so it's hard to be motivated to keep going. I really would like some feedback from you guys. Another reason why I don't blog as often as I should is because my camera sucks big time! The pictures don't come out like I want them to so that you guys will be able to see what I see. I really think it's time to get me another one, but alas no money. So I need to make do with what I have because it's better to have a camera than none at all. I really love my hair, and makeup, fashion, and other things, but again it's hard to post sometimes when things don't go the way I think it should. A Review For You

Hey there!

I was so excited to find hat Dillard's in the mall where I live now carries Carol's Daughter. I am by no means a product junkie. So it is rare that you will get a product review out of me because I don't like to try stuff out all to often.I prefer to stick with what works and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. However, when I came across the line I just had to try something out for myself. I chose the Hair Milk and let me tell you it's not cheap. It cost around $19! I must say the couple of times I have used it haven't been anything to get to excited about. It doesn't smell all that great either. I'm not going to write it off just yet though because I haven't used it enough to give you a definite yay or nay for myself. But as it stands now I don't want to buy it anymore. It costs to much and I can get better results from conditioner and coconut oil! I will keep you posted on the verdit as soon as I use it some more.

The Experiment Part 2

Hey guys here are the pics from last week from my experiment. I'm posting pics from each day. I don't know if you will be able to see the change, but I definitely notice a difference in my curl pattern after a couple of days. The problem I had the most is the shrinkage. My hair will start of so big and luscious, but then as it dries the shrinkage sets in. I still kept the definition though. So if you want your curls to reach their fullest potential here's what to do:

1. co-wash your hair

2. shake out the excess water

3. put on your moisturizer (coconut/olive oil, conditioner, etc.)

3. shake it again and go

If it's cold you might want to use a diffuser. If you don't have a diffuser put your drier on the lowest setting. Enjoy the pics ladies and I will be back shortly with a makeup review!

How's it going? I'm making this post to do a little experiment. I was on youtube and two people that I am subscribed to (one of them is Marand113 or something like that)stated that if you cowash, moisturize, and not touch your hair, it will make your curls pop. I believe them, but I want to know for myself. So over the next few days that's what I will be doing. Hi guys how's it going? It's going okay in this neck of the woods! I have some more tutorials in my mind, but first I need to work out the kinks. So please bare with me. :) As for my hair right now it is in twists. I think it will be a good idea to make a tutorial on how to have a blown out Afro without a blow dryer. So stay tuned for that!

How's it going? I decided to make this post about jeans. Do you find it diffcult to find the perfect pair of jeans for your body? I know I do! I have a hourglass figure so that means my hips are very wide, but not a whole lot of booty and I have a cinched in waist.! lol I found this picture that shows you the different shapes of women.

The best thing to do to find out your body shape is to look at yourself in the mirror. I think it is so important because jeans can make or break your shape. You certainly don't want muffin top! :)

Just a Little How-to

Hey Hey Hey,

Here is my video on how to make a scarf.

The Instructions:
1. Make chains until you have the desired length for the scarf.
2. Row 1: DC (Double Crochet) in the third chain from the hook, and in each chain after that until you come to the end of the row. Chain 3
3. Row 2: Turn you work and DC in each DC all the way to the end. (note; Only crochet in the third chain on the first row because that will create your first DC. In the rows following you will chain 3 and DC in the second DC.)
4. Row 3: You will continue to repeat row 2 until you get the desired width.
5. When you are finished, you will cut the yarn and pull it through the last stitch to secure it. Lastly sew in the end.

Ahhhhhhh, the black leather pump. I love shoes! I think more than any other type of wearable item I definitely have a love affair with heels. They are so sexy and they make your legs look longer, make you look taller, and they can make an outfit look very chic. For example, look at these beautiful wonders from Perla.

Aren't they the most luscious things you have every seen! But at $525 a pop they will for a certainty break my pocketbook! It's nice to dream anyway. :) However if you can afford to shell out megabucks for these beauties than head over to Acne and order you a pair today.

There is still hope for those of us who can't swing that kind of dough. Over at Shoe Explosion you will find some pumps from Chinese Laundry that are similar to the shoes from Perla, but at $49.99, they won't have you working extra hours on the job!

Hairy After Thoughts

Here in my place of residence we are definitely feeling the bite of winter settling in. For the past few days it has been very cold in the morning only to warm up just a little in the afternoon. So this leads to our topic of discussion; shaving. I was thinking about this today at work. When it comes for shaving black women, from what I have observed and I'm not speaking for the majority, are less likely to put a razor to work. I definitely want to get some opinions on the subject. How do you ladies feel about shaving in general? Do you think it's not okay or is to shave in the winter? If you do shave, what have you found to work best for you? How important do you think it is for women to shave? I'm not posting a questionnaire, just some thoughts running through my mind. You don't have answer them per say, but I do want some feedback on the matter. So hit me up ladies and tell me what do you think.

Braids for a Braid-Out?

I put a question to it because I don't know for sure what I'm going to do. I took my hair down yesterday (didn't take pictures :(). It was in desperate need of a washing! I wore my hair into a pony puff today. I want to wear a braid-out, but this will be my first time doing it so I don't know how it will turn out. I will definitely try to get pics in the morning. So you might see it in a braid-out or a pony puff lol! So yeah......

Three Week Twists

Hey there everybody,

I would show you pics of my hair, but it's not really much to show. I'm on week three with my hair. However, I really think it's time I washed my hair because when I did the twists I have in now, I didn't wash my hair. I just wet it, put some conditioner/cocoanut oil in it, and then detangled. I didn't rinse the conditioner out but just put cholesterol deep treatment on it and sleep over night. When I woke the next morning, I rinsed that out. Then I took out the braids I had made and wore my hair out for a little then I two strand twisted. So yeah... that's about it. TTYL!

OMG you guys! I love my Costco brush set. All of the faces brushes are very soft and blend foundation, concealer, and powder beautifully! The set is only like 22 to 25 dollars which is an amazing bargain for what you get. The new set they have out has different handles (clear) and it also comes with an eyelash curler (mine didn't). Well you guys, I've decided that I need to close one of the many accounts that I have online! lol It's just way to much and for sure some of the sites I'm on are being neglected. So I will probably be closing my foki account. I don't check it that often and it seems I have more viewers on youtube. So yeah..... I will try to blog as much a possible and update you guys on hair happenings among other things. Check back often. Have a good day.

Here is a picture of me with and without makeup. Even though you can't really tell a difference, there is till a glow in the two top pictures. The two bottoms don't have a glow on the face. I just wanted to show this picture for you to see that you don't need a lot of makeup to be pretty. Sometime you just want that "awake" look.

Black Skateboarders?

Ok, I know this is a totally weird post but I must address this. I must be out of the loop because from looking at this video on Youtube I really did not know that so many black guys were into skateboarding. Now trust me when I say this, I not the kind of person that will put certain races of people into genres, but I just find it quite intriguing to see a black dude skateboarding. Any skateboarders out there hit me up with a comment or something so I can know what's going on your world! :)
